A sticker advertising recreational drug delivery hangs on the exterior of a residential building in the gentrified neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin. The city has seen a rise in online or digitalized illegal drug sales, often referred to as "drug taxis," services operating through social media and chat apps. While such advertising stickers are regularly removed by police, law enforcement has difficulties investigating those behind the sales, working anonymously on digital messaging platforms and social media.

An estimated six million Roma live in the European Union, a number comprising around half of the global population of the group. Many continue to suffer from discrimination that leads to high levels of poverty and poor education that is often similar to that experienced in the world's poorest countries.
